The Executive Committee of the International Institute of Fisheries Economics and Trade established the IIFET Fellows recognition in 2010. The recognition is given every two years at the IIFET Biennial Conference.

The main criterion for selection of Fellows shall be substantial, long-term, ongoing contributions to the advancement and development of economic theory and analysis in the areas of fisheries, aquaculture and/or seafood trade. Achievements may be evidenced by research, teaching, academic service and/or policy impact.
