IIFET is pleased to announce that three Best Paper Awards will be offered in conjunction with IIFET 2026 Faroe Islands.
All awards share the same paper formatting requirements and submission deadlines. Each award recipient will receive complimentary conference registration, along with some level of participant support. Details regarding the specific level and form of support for each award will be announced once finalized.
Best Student Paper Award

To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a student, defined as:
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program, or
- Graduated on or after 21 March 2025
2. Be the primary author of the paper
3. Submit a paper on an economic topic relevant to the conference themes
4. Have an abstract for your paper accepted for ORAL presentation at IIFET 2026 and have received the acceptance notification
Daniel K. Lew Best Paper Award
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a student (as defined above in the Best Student Paper Award eligibility) or an early-career researcher within five years of completing your highest degree
- Be the primary author of the paper
- Submit a paper on an economic topic relevant to the conference themes
- Have an abstract for your paper accepted for ORAL presentation at IIFET 2026 and have received the acceptance notification
Please note: Students may apply to either the Best Student Paper Award or the Daniel K. Lew Award, but not both.
JIFRS-Yamamoto Award for Best Paper on Responsible Fisheries
Sponsored by Japan International Fisheries Research Society (JIFRS)
To submit a paper for consideration, you must:
- Be a citizen of a low/middle/upper income country, as defined by the World Bank
- Submit a paper that encourages the rational development of responsible fisheries in your home country
- Be the primary author of the paper
- Have an abstract abstract for your paper accepted for ORAL or POSTER presentation at IIFET 2026 and have received the acceptance notification
